Using the attributes Rel=”Prev” & rel=”Next” can help to build a relationship between related URLs that are part of a system or which are paginated. For example if you have an ecommerce or article content site and you have a category of products or series of content that requires more than one page to present then you can use these attributes to show Google that they are related in series.

This helps to clearly display the connection to Google so that they don’t consider these pages duplicate content and you don’t receive any penalties. It is good to use these tags on each of your paginated pages.
